Hello. Hungry for business?
- You and your business are saying hello to the world, and the world needs to be as excited about that as you are.
- You need a potent copywriting infusion. Enough calories to carry you up the next hill and beyond.
- You’ve already got a website, but no one is buying. You need that to change.
- People love you.You need them to love this new program you’re launching, too.
You don’t really want to hire a copywriter.
You want an amazing success story.
We may have a thing or two in common.
Introducing Trail Mix for Business.
It’s a customized collaboration between you and me in which we work together to take your business somewhere exciting. Somewhere it’s never been before. There’s copywriting, there’s messaging, there’s brainstorming. There’s movement. Difficult things become easy. The way they should be.
Here is how your business can benefit from Trail Mix:
1. Your marketing does what you want it to do.
We know this because my work has done it for others. And because we’ll measure your results. Whether your audience consists of C-level executives, investors, quirky entrepreneurs, software developers, or consultants, I can help you grab them. Really, though, you’ll grab each other.
2. You fill up on profitable ideas.
If you only want a copywriter, someone to translate your ideas into words that sing before riding off into the sunset, then I am not the one.
I can’t help myself from giving you much more.
From insights about your messaging, to helpful tips on how you can exude even more amazingness than you already do, these ideas have a way of changing things, and opening up unforeseen possibilities.
3. We work collaboratively, in an agile, iterative fashion.
Do you know how many $5,000 ideas can happen in 5 minutes? I was born to have epiphanies on your behalf. We’re always moving. We build on what we create. Nothing goes to waste.
4. You get 2am ideas at no charge.
Those ideas that wake me up in the middle of the night, which need to be written down immediately? The ones that come when I’m standing in line at the grocery store? Those are just my gift to you. Included in every project.
It’s your hike.
After we’ve worked together a while, you won’t need to keep hiring consultants to do everything for you. (A client recently said she felt like a piece of me had been implanted in her brain.) We’re working together, co-creating your business. We’re hiking and adjusting course as we go.
“Kelly came to us very highly recommended from referrals we trusted. She knew our space (independent professionals) and its players as well as anyone we had ever come across. She had a unique ability to turn our marketing lingo into very readable, concise web content. And most importantly, we liked her personally. Looking at traffic views of the pages Kelly crafted, we saw a 45% improvement in the number of visitors who eventually signed up for our service (Mavenlink’s key conversion event). Something we didn’t expect going in, but that turned out to be extremely valuable, was getting insights and tips that enabled the Mavenlink team to write better content. The classic “teach a team to fish” was extremely important for our company. So was the persuasive messaging Kelly created, which still gets regularly referred to 8 months later.”

What’s Inside Copylicious?
A complete experience inventory
The first thing to know about your Copylicious experience is this.
It’s going to make you uncomfortable.
This is exciting.
It means if we work together, you’ll be stretching beyond limits to grow your business.
Most of them are in your head.
Like the number.
You know it. The magic number.
The one that comes up whenever you buy an expensive information product, only to abandon it half-way through.
My aim is to move you toward that number, without running into anything sharp.
Just as working with me requires you to stretch and grow, so does my fee. This, again, may cause some momentary discomfort.
But as soon as we begin working together, we’ll also work on helping you recoup your investment in my services.
You can accomplish quite a bit with me on your side, ready to brainstorm ideas with you, restore clarity to foggy brains, and translate all those ideas into persuasive copy.
You become an easy, breezy warrior
who is also the princess in the tower.
Intense energy: Aaaaa! Doing things!
Clarity: Ah. That feels good.
It feels good because you’re working with a marketing consultant, business advisor, and copywriter, all rolled up into one.
Clients who use all three of these special powers tell me I’m the best writer they’ve ever worked with.
That’s because I do more than write.
I help them structure and position their business, develop persuasive messaging that fits them and their audience, and see possibilities where before they saw limits.
In addition to the wholesome goodness listed above, your customized blend of trail mix includes:
- Phone calls to brainstorm persuasive messaging, sightsee possibilities, and problem-solve any aspect of marketing your business. You send your responses to a few key questions in advance.
- Collaborative copywriting by the hour. A little time goes a long way. My goal is to constantly repurpose and build on what we’ve created, which is why I believe hourly billing gives you the most value. Together, we write lead-generating copy for such materials as emails and sales pages. Copy covers the problem, solution, benefits, target audience, explanation, risk reversal, and uniqueness. Copy can often be repurposed for other projects.
- Access to your own marketing collaboration and project management space, where you can post drafts in progress and ask questions.
If you think you’d like to take your business somewhere exciting this year, here’s what to do.
If we haven’t worked together before, it’s usually best to begin with a Wilderness Concierge session.
If we have worked together, let’s schedule a 15-minute conversation. You’ll receive a customized proposal after we speak. No two bags of Trail Mix are alike, and I want to make sure the work we do together will bring you the business you want. No settling.

A word about confidentiality: This is super-important. I will never share your information with anyone without your permission. Your email will not be added to any lists—including my own—without your permission. I will never reveal anything you’ve told me unless you’ve already spoken about it publicly, even if I consider it a minor detail, like that you eat oatmeal for breakfast. I will not tweet about our sessions. I may tweet about you. But not within the context of us working together. And never with any expectation of reciprocation.
Project Timeline
Because we collaborate, the timeline depends on how fast our communication goes. I will set up some preliminary milestones when you accept the proposal. We’ll keep things moving along at a healthy pace. If you need to stop for a few days to take care of business, go right ahead. And if you have a hard deadline, let me know. My goal is to get you to your destination safely and on time.
Testimonials
“Kelly Parkinson is one of the most brilliant people I’ve ever worked with.
“People call her because the quality of the writing on her website really compels them to go, ‘I want something like that.’ She’s always coming up with new ideas and marketing tactics for tweaking and improving high-end, outcome-based programs. I expect even more amazing things from her in the future.”
Robert Middleton, Action Plan Marketing
“Before I met Kelly I thought copywriting was all loud-mouthed hype and manipulation. It’s not.
“With the right person it’s a way to help your right clients say “oh, that’s me!” and flock to you. Kelly really knows marketing, she knows copy, she knows branding and can infuse all that stuff with complete integrity. I turn to Kelly for advice and input whenever I have to promote a product or program. Plus she’s helped me formulate all sorts of smart, enthusiastic, believable things to say when people want to know what the heck I do. Collaborating with her is always a terrific experience.”
Havi Brooks, The Fluent Self
“I hired Kelly because although people were entertained by the copy I was writing, they weren’t buying what I was selling.
“I wanted copy that sounded like me. I also knew I didn’t want to work with someone stuffy and overly corporate. Kelly made the process fun. She was professional without being stuffy or textbook. She showed me all the things I wasn’t saying about my products that I really needed to be saying so my copy would convert. Kelly’s copy changed the way people interact with my site, and my site copy is converting better than it has in the last two years! Hire Kelly if you really want it done right.”
David Billings, Sparky Firepants
“I was starting a new division of my business, and it seemed hard to explain what I was trying to do.
“I’ve had web copy in the past that was dry, boring, business-y. Kelly’s isn’t like that. She writes copy that is clever and casual and that grabs you in a non-slimy way. There’s something sort of magical about the way Kelly listened, took all of the pieces I gave her, and synthesized them into something that seems casual, easy, and conversational. Working with Kelly, I got really well-written copy, but it was so much more than that. She had an entire marketing plan for me, and she helped me create the framework for the launch of my business.”
Eileen Corrigan
“You out-did my expectations. It’s amazing.
“You seem to have some magical way of pulling out the gems in the rough. I love the way you are keeping it un-wordy and impactful. I am so happy.”
Lauren Oktay, Basic Goodness
“My challenge was figuring out how to approach people who don’t necessarily have a positive relationship with computers.
“I needed to do it in a way that didn’t scare them off. Kelly seemed like she had a really good attitude and I just had a good feeling about her. My clients are more concerned with results than with the method. Kelly helped me come up with something that speaks to what they want, regardless of how it happens and without getting into computer details. I expected more of an exchange where I said, “OK, here’s what I do,” and then I would get copy back. Instead, Kelly helped me understand more about the work that I do, and in the process I also became a better editor and copywriter. I was surprised that it was such an engaging process. I went from being unsure of how to present myself to feeling much more confident about what I’m doing and how I’m talking to people.”
Ezra Brooks, Ezra Helps
“Kelly is one of the most talented writers I’ve ever worked with. She’s phenomenal.
“She offers a perspective that’s more than words on a page–she thinks about the big picture. She’s also very easy to work with, always meets her commitments, and brings new and challenging ideas to every project.
“Recently, I asked Kelly to help articulate my firm’s brand and everything we offer in a way that was authentic, that sounded like me. Kelly wrote the whole site as well as much of the positioning content for it.
“She nailed it. It’s exactly what we need to say and how we need to say it. I don’t think anyone could have done a better job. The feedback we’ve gotten from customers and clients has been clear: Her writing really hit the mark and captured our brand.”
Jennifer Benz, Chief Strategist and Founder, Benz Communications
“The solar industry has a hard time communicating benefits.
“We can talk about features and technical data like the manufacturing process and the glass. But we’re so busy talking techno-jargon that the average person doesn’t see the benefits. What people really care about is how much money they’ll save and how it works. We need good people to help us communicate.
“My company had a pool of copywriters at our disposal, but a co-worker told me Kelly was the best. Not only does Kelly really understand the technical aspects of solar, translating them into terms the average person can understand, but she’s also much more than a copywriter. She’s a marketing person who just happens to be a copywriter. She sees the whole picture.
“Kelly’s method was to immerse herself in our industry and in the marketing materials. She came up with some ideas for new marketing programs for our company. And she became a true partner in developing the marketing materials themselves—rather than just doing her one part of it. Her ideas were genuinely helpful, and she was easy to work with.”
